The idea for this painting came from Leonardo's drawing of the Vitruvian Man. 
It is based on the compositional idea of a circle in a square.
The dragon or snake which is tied around the man's leg represents the lower self which is being controlled by a steward. All of this is based on masonic ideas and alchemical traditions.
This same concept is implied in Gurdjieff's ideas of higher and lower self. 

This painting was painted in and was done in tempera paints which I prepare from mineral pigments in the studio. 

This painting is currently located in my northern California studio and is framed and will be shipped framed via international courier with tracking number.
