The warriors in this painting are all idealised figures: strong, harmonious and gracious. They all have classical profiles of antiquity.
 
For this painting, Genya was inspired by the Roman bas reliefs where warriors were depicted nude, dressed only with shields & helmets.
Perhaps this symbolised their absence of fearlessness before death.
Warriors was finished in the summer of 2022 and was painted on heavy Belgian canvas, finely prepared by the artist.

This painting took one year to complete and is painted in oils on
 heavy Belgian linen.
